Five People. One Moment: Flags of America – Suzanne Brennan Firstenberg
Suzanne is a visual artist who had an exhibition on the National Mall in September of 2021. The art installation was comprised of white flags, each one representing one life that was lost to COVID-19 in the United States. She shares who the exhibition started, what it means to her, and it became a place for people to grieve the people they’d lost with family, friends, and strangers.
Five People. One Moment: Flags of America takes a deep dive into people’s relationships with flags in our Country. There have been many permutations of flags that are meant to symbolize freedom over the course of American History, but these symbols look different in each person’s eyes. Take a look at the Flags of America through five true, personal stories and examine what they mean today.
