Meet Grand Slam Contestant Marjorie!
There’s just ONE StorySlam left before the Grand Slam at the First Person Arts Festival! Tuesday night’s Slam theme is “Mischief”, so you know it’s going to be a fun and wild night. AND! We’ll be selling a limited number of Grand Slam tickets at Tuesday’s Slam FEE FREE. So be there to grab your tickets and save some money!
Over the past few weeks we’ve been introducing you to our fabulous FPA Festival lineup. Up this week, meet Grand Slam competitor Marjorie! Be sure to watch the video below of the story that earned her a place in the Grand Slam spotlight. You’ll find Marjorie is no stranger to a little classroom mischief, herself!
Name: Marjorie Fineberg Winther
Age: I remember when the Beatles were on Ed Sullivan.
Location: Mount Airy, Philadelphia
Slam won: Chemistry
AG: What was the last thing you won (StorySlam not included)?
MW: Nothing. I did, however, lose two things recently: a humorous story contest they held at my job: my story made everyone cry. I also lost a healthy salad recipe contest.
AG: This is our 13th Annual FPA Fest. In honor of that, could you share with us a 13 word story?
MW: When trying to get laughs, do not have the sweet old man die.
AG: For the first time ever, the winner of this Grand Slam will get a $250 CASH PRIZE! What will you do with the money if you win?
MW: Invite everyone from FPA to a Dance Dance Revolution Party.
AG: What would your dream theme be for a StorySlam? What story would you tell?
MW: Social activism. I would tell about getting arrested at age 13. (I had started the Elementary School Students Mobilization Committee.)
AG: Who would you love to perform live on stage with?
MW: I want to sing a duet with the late, great Marvin Gaye.
AG: Why are you a good storyteller? (aka why should your competitors be scared?)
MW: No one should be scared. This is a terrible question.
